Doug Howlett will remain part of the Cork hurling backroom team for the remainder of their championship campaign, despite stepping down from his role as head of commercial and marketing with Munster Rugby to return home to New Zealand.

The former All-Black and Munster winger joined the Rebels' set-up this year, but won't be leaving the country until after the championship concludes on August 18.

“Doug has a young family. He’s from New Zealand and I would imagine that they want to go back to New Zealand, to bring up his children in New Zealand, but he’s staying with us for the championship," Cork manager John Meyler said.
