Four minor hurlers in Co Antrim are set to be honoured by their local council.
Cushendall’s Shane McKenna, Niall Óg McGuigan, Michael Quinn and Josh Schnell were recognised for their bravery after rescuing a father and his two young children when they got into difficulties while swimming at White Park Bay on June 25th.
Last Tuesday saw the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council recognising the heroic acts of all four 16-year-olds and agreeing that they should put up for a humanitarian award.
It read: "That this council recognizes the bravery of the four young teenagers Michael Quinn, Josh Schnell, Shane McKenna and Niall Og McGuigan from the Ruairi Og hurling club in Cushendall, when they rescued a father and his two young children when they got into difficulties while swimming at White Park Bay."Tweet
