In his address to this Friday night's Carlow GAA convention, county board chairman Sean Campion is eager for their inter-county team's to push on to the next level in 2018.

Campion will be delivering his speech to delegates at the convention in Ballinkillen this weekend where he stresses that the county need to be more successful on the playing fields.

"Hopefully, we can drive on the football side of things, by getting out of Division Four," writes Campion. "That is the aim. We have set ourselves up for it and now we have to deliver.

"The day of moral victories is over. The run in the qualifiers will only be significant if we can get out of Division Four.

"I would also be hoping our hurlers can hit the ground running and win the league and then qualify for the Joe McDonagh Cup final."
