Cork to wait on recovering duo
August 22, 2008
The Cork team management will wait until tomorrow (Saturday) to decide whether or not to include Graham Canty and Nicholas Murphy in their squad for Sunday's All-Ireland semi-final with Kerry.
Both Canty (foot) and Murphy (hamstring) are still trying to shake off injuries to be fit in time for the Croke Park clash and have been left out of the starting team that Conor Counihan's named on Wednesday last.
"We'll be taking advice from our medical people on the progress that Graham and Nicholas have made," said O'Sullivan.
"And we also have a kick around in Dublin on Saturday evening, and that will give us a chance to see how Graham and Nicholas go in it.
"At this stage, we thought that both players would be further advanced in their recovery progress. But Nicholas started jogging on Sunday, and he kicked a few balls on Tuesday night.
"Both players are continuing to receive treatment on a daily basis, and improvement in players' condition can sometimes be quite significant in a short space of time.
"There's still three days to go to the match, so were quite hopeful that both Graham and Nicholas will be able to play some part in it," added the selector.
The pair are both All Star winners and would be a huge bonus to the Munster Champions if fit to play as Cork look to overcome the Kingdom in Croke Park for the first time in history.
