Canty looking for a performance

Graham Canty
Cork's Graham Canty is hoping that his side can do themselves justice in this Sunday's All-Ireland semi-final after last year's ten-point final drubbing at the hands of Kerry. The Munster Champions' veteran defender has not been named in the side to face the Kingdom this weekend, with a foot injury, but could make a surprise appearance and maybe even a start against Cork's old rivals. Dwelling on last year's hammering to Kerry in the All-Ireland SFC final at Croke Park, Canty believes that the most disappointing aspect of the day was the fact that Cork hadn't performed at all, but the full-back hopes that that can be put right this weekend as they look to reach their second successive decider. "The most disappointing thing about last year was that we didn't turn up and play at all," he said. "We didn't do ourselves justice. If you play to the best of your ability and the team plays to the best of its ability then it's a lot easier to take. "You're not happy if you lose a Championship match but if you play to the best of your ability you can come off with some degree of satisfaction. "Last year we came off knowing we'd played very poorly. Next day if we play well and it's good enough to beat Kerry so be it. If it's not then the best of luck to Kerry." The defender has been giving away little about Cork's plans to try and isolate the Kingdom's awesome attack force, but points out that training sessions on Leeside have been getting competitive in the build up to the last four clash and that focus will be huge for the Rebels defence on Sunday afternoon. "We're getting on very well, training is very competitive," admitted Canty. "If your mind is not focussed the man marking you is going to make a fool of you. "You have to be on your game every night in training."
