Cork captain Paul Kerrigan is confident that they are now on the right track following their latest All-Ireland SFC qualifier win.

A win over Longford sees Cork through to round 4 of the qualifiers where they will play Donegal for a place in the quarterfinal.

The Rebels form had been poor earlier in the year, but with each game in the qualifiers, they have improved.

And Kerrigan told the Southern Star that they will head for Croke Park on Saturday week in a confident mood.

"We have now won two championship games on the bounce, which has to be good for confidence, even if they were two matches that we were expected to win," said Kerrigan.

"When we won the All-Ireland in 2010, we had to grind out victories in places like Wexford and Limerick, after extra time, and they were character building wins which toughened us up for the big games ahead.

"We are under no illusions, we'll probably be underdogs for the next game, but our goal since we went out of the Munster championship has been to get to an All-Ireland quarterfinal, and we have just one more battle ahead of us now to achieve that."
