Limerick's 1-13 to 1-5 play-off victory over Waterford at Leamybrien has earned them a semi-final date with Cork.

The semi-final will take place at Pairc Ui Rinn on May 11th and will involve two teams who both defeated Tipperary in the competition.

Limerick got their challenge back on track last Wednesday by stunning the Premier in their first-round play-off, having been edged out by Clare a week earlier. Waterford - on the other hand - were soundly thrashed by Kerry in their quarter-final and actually posted more scores in the first seven minutes tonight than they managed in an hour at Fraher Field a fortnight ago!

Unfortunately, they couldn't sustain that effort and managed just 0-2 in the last 53+ minutes of this game as their guests took complete control in front of 261 spectators.

Paddy Prendergast's second-minute goal had Na Deise off to a flying start and when they followed up with points from Dylan Guiry and Sean Martin (two frees), the shock was on - 1-3 to no score after seven minutes!

The Treaty County eventually settled and, with the breeze at their backs, reeled off five unanswered points to trail by just the minimum at the short whistle, 1-3 to 0-5, with Diarmuid Kelly (0-3), Eoin O'Mahony and Anthony Barrett on target.

The winners notched two of the first three points of the second half to twice draw level and midfielder Kelly's 45th-minute goal propelled them ahead for the first time - 1-7 to 1-4. (Kelly finished the night with 1-4 to his credit.)

From there to the winning line, it was plain sailing for the Shannonsiders, who now have a fourth outing to look forward to in this year's championship and a bit of momentum behind them as they prepare for the tricky trip to Cork.

Josh Ryan, Anthony Barrett, James Ryan, Noel Callinan and Darragh Ranahan all posted lated points for the winners, while Waterford's woes were compounded when centre forward Martin was sent off in the sixth minute of injury time.
