Ephie not worried by missed chances
April 26, 2013
Ephie Fitzgerald wasn't too concerned about Cork's prolificacy in their drawn Munster MFC quarter-final against Kerry.
The Rebels kicked eight wides, dropped several point attempts into Kerry goalkeeper Shane Ryan's hands and also had a penalty saved, meaning they must head for Tralee for a replay tonight.
"Obviously you have to take your chances," the Cork minor manager told the Corkman.
"But if you weren't making your chances, you'd be more worried. To be fair, their goalkeeper made a few very good saves. Obviously after missing a penalty, fellas can put their heads down. This year we focused on guys who have character and I think they showed that our there tonight - their never-say-die spirit.
"The game was, to all intents and purposes, gone with five minutes to go, five points down, and five or six of those had a hard match last week in the hurling championship. It's not easy to came back (like they did)."
