Paudie O'Sullivan has finally undergone surgery on his badly broken leg.
The Cork hurler suffered a horrific double break of both his tibia and fibula in club action for Cloyne on Tuesday night but only underwent the procedure at Cork University Hospital early this morning.
He has since awoken from the operation and has taken to Twitter to confirm that everything went according to plan:
"Surgery completed successfully in the early hours of this morning thankfully , officially on the road to recovery ...
"Thanks again to everyone for their support , I really have been totally overwhelmed by it all and it has kept me strong the last few days. (@psull88)
Yesterday morning, Paudie's brother - Cork legend Diarmuid O'Sullivan - used the social media website to express his frustration with the length of time it was taking to get the Rebel County attacker into the theatre:
"i wonder if Paudie was an international player would he be left sit on a hospital trolley until tomorrow to have his op ?? #nothappy
"and its not only all about paudie, elderly people waiting longer than him ! #brokenhealthsystem" (@dsully3)
