Cork hurlers were dealt a massive blow last night when Paudie O'Sullivan sustained a suspected broken leg while playing for Imokilly in the Cork SHC against Cork IT in Carrigtwohill.

The Rebel County star sustained the injury in the seventh minute and was transferred to hospital by ambulance.

Referee Kevin Murphy subsequently abandoned the match which Cork IT were leading by 0-2 to 0-1.

O'Sullivan had moments earlier opened Imokilly's account from a placed ball. His brothers Eoin and Diarmuid were also members of the Imokilly starting 15.

Former Cork star Diarmuid tweeted this morning: 'thank you to @Carrig2hillGAA and @CIT_ie espically the doc for the fantastic care they provided paudie with on the filed last night.'

The injury looks set to rule the talented forward out of Cork's entire championship campaign.
