The hoganstand.com football team of the week.
It was quiet on the senior intercounty football front this past weekend but there were a number of exceptional performances at minor and under 21 levels.
1. Jack Brady (Tipperary minors)The Ballina clubman kept a clean sheet as Tipperary got their bid for a third Munster MFC title in a row off to a winning start against Clare.
2. Alan Cronin (Cork U21s)The Rebel County number two kept Cavan captain Fergal Flanagan scoreless in Tullamore.
3. Damien Cahalane (Cork U21s)Captain Cahalane conceded the late free that gave the Breffni County an opportunity to send the game into extra-time but enjoyed a fine outing otherwise.
4. David Cunnane (Galway U21s)Cunnane and his defensive colleagues had their work cut out against the much-vaunted Kildare attack but valiantly stuck to their task.
5. Paul Cribbin (Kildare U21s)Cribbin showed his forward colleagues how it is done when sending over a point but the Lilywhites were made to pay the price for their profligacy in front of the posts.
6. Darragh McVitty (Cavan U21s)The Ulster County's number six couldn't be faulted for their narrow one-point defeat.
7. Brian O'Driscoll (Cork U21s)The Cork half-back excelled throughout and also chipped in with two points.
8. Tom Flynn (Galway U21s)The Athenry clubman put his injury woes behind him to play a starring role in the Tribesmen's surprise victory over Kildare and scored their first goal in the 10th minute.
9. Sean Kiely (Cork U21s)Kiely and his midfield partner, Ian Maguire, got the better of their Cavan opponents in Tullamore.
10. Daniel Flynn (Kildare U21s)On a day when the Kildare attack failed to click, Flynn was one of the few players to perform up to scratch and bagged 1-1 for Kieran McGeeney's side.
11. Sean Moran (Galway U21s)Moran's 47th minute goal, set up by Ian Burke, propelled Galway in to a six point lead.
12. Mark Sugrue (Cork U21s)Sugrue was superb in the second half against Cavan and sent over three points from play.
13. Shane Walsh (Galway U21s)Walsh underlined his potential when scoring six points, three from frees, against the fancied Lilywhites.
14. Adam Shelly (Offaly minors)The Faithful County Under 18s came back from the dead against Meath and two goals from their full-forward initiated the revival.
15. Tom Kirwan (Tipperary minors)Kirwan led from the front against Clare and registered four points of his side's 1-10 tally.
