Munster MHC: Super-sub O'Sullivan shoots down Rebels
May 03, 2012
Limerick 0-16
Cork 1-12
Liam O'Sullivan was the Limerick super-sub after he scored an injury-time point to give them victory over Cork in the Munster MHC for the second year-in-a-row at Pairc Ui Chaoimh last night.
In truth, Limerick should never had to rely on O'Sullivan's late winner as they looked to be on course for a comfortable victory when leading 0-14 to 0-9 with 10 minutes remaining. But a late rally by the home side, which included a goal from substitute Anthony Spillane, had them level with normal-time up.
Ronan Lynch then shot his 11th point to restore the visitors' lead, only for Dillon Cahill to bring the Rebels level again. But the Treaty County had the final say when O'Sullivan shot over from an acute angle in the third minute of injury-time.
While they were heavily reliant on free-taker Lynch for scores, Limerick were marginally the better side overall. At half-time, the sides were level on 0-8 each.
