Cork captain Graham Canty lifts the Sam Maguire Cup
Graham Canty says Conor Counihan has instilled greater consistency into the Cork footballers.
On Sunday, the Rebels bid for their third successive Division One crown when they face Mayo in the final at Croke Park and Canty, who returns to the starting XV at centre back, says in The Irish Sun:
"When Conor came in he made no bones about it - he wanted to get consistency into us.
"Maybe before he came in, we'd have a good performance followed by a very average performance and it was the average performance that would catch you come the championship day - and your year is over.
"So if you can develop consistency and bring it into the championship, it should stand to you.
"Teams take the league more seriously now because it is a big benchmark for the last few years and the teams who performed well in the league have gone on and had good championships.
"So it is a good indicator and that is why I think teams and managers take it more seriously."
