John Miskella is in a race against time to be fit for Cork's Munster SFC opening defence against either Kerry or Tipperary on June 6.

The versatile Ballincollig clubman will be sidelined for at least three months due to a persistent groin problem. Miskella has already missed the Rebels' opening two NFL matches against Monaghan and Kerry, and will definitely miss the remainder of the league campaign.

An All-Star at left half back last year, the long-serving star was fortunate not to miss the All-Ireland final through suspension after lashing out at Tyrone's Brian McGuigan in the semi-final. Tweet
