Galvin facing eight-week ban

Kerry's Paul Galvin
The Central Competitions Control Committee has proposed an eight-week ban for Kerry star Paul Galvin.

The current Footballer of the Year received a straight red card along with Cork's Eoghan Cadogan after the pair were involved in an off-the-ball incident in last weekend's NFL clash at Pairc Ui Rinn. Cadogan, who needed surgery on a fractured tooth sustained during the game, received the minimum four-week suspension.

However, the duration of Galvin's ban was automatically doubled because he was sent off for a similar Category II offence within the last 48 weeks. His last straight red card was also against Cork in last June's Munster SFC semi-final replay at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

He is expected to appeal his ban to the Central Hearings Committee.

Mayo's Mark Ronaldson has also been proposed for a four-week ban for an incident which took place in last Sunday's win over Tyrone.
