Time running out for 'The Rock'
May 09, 2009
New Cork hurling boss Denis Walsh will decide this weekend on whether or not Diarmuid O'Sullivan will be part of his championship plans.
The All-Ireland winning full back hasn't played or trained with the Rebels since last year's All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Kilkenny, prompting speculation that he has retired from the inter-county scene.
And with Cork's Munster championship opener against Tipperary just three weeks away, Walsh says the time has come to finally make a decision on the matter.
"Cloyne are playing a championship match on Saturday evening. It is case that we will be making up our mind on it after that," he said.
The St. Catherine's clubman revealed that he has all but finalised his championship panel, with former AFL player Aisake O hAilpin still in the mix.
"We have most of them picked bar maybe three or four. We have a couple of injuries and that.
"We haven't seen that much of Aisake, but he played club championship at the weekend and he was troublesome enough. Obviously there is a big worry that he is four or five years outside of it (hurling), But you know those guys (the O hAilpin brothers), they are free spirits."
