O hAilpin says he was sick of 'Rock' criticism
October 05, 2008
Sean Og O hAilpin has revealed how he was sickened by people criticising county team-mate Diarmuid O'Sullivan over the past year.
O'Sullivan has surprised some observers by lining out for the Highfield rugby club of late but O hAilpin says the Rebel County full-back knows best.
"Diarmuid probably wants to go another year," O hAilpin proffered." He copped an awful lot of flak, but when it came to the big game he was one of the few who performed for us.
"The pressure he was under going into the game, you wouldn't understand. No one outside of Cork knows what it was like.
"I was sick of people coming up to me on the street saying 'he's gone past it' and 'when are ye getting a new full-back?'.
"I just brushed it aside and walked on. He was under fierce pressure but he performed in the big game."
