St. Patrick's GAA Club Notes

October 03, 2008
One win, one draw and one defeat is not bad when your contesting in three county finals last weekend first up was our minors when we were second best in the semi final of this years county premier football championship going down to Fr Casey's in Ballyagran last Saturday evening. The score line of 1-17 to 1-06 this was no reflection on the way our lads played, they played well in the first half while playing up the hill in a very close game. Our goal keeper Gary Griffin and his back line of Brien O Neill, Michael Kelleher and Desmond Mc Daid played a very tight marking game which kept Fr. Caseys forwards at bay and if our forward line were on form on the day the half time score of 0-05 to our only point we would have been level at the break. Our only point in the first half came from the boot of Brendan Mullins. In the second half we had a great chance of a goal in the first five minutes but kicked wide but midway of the second half our young men began to tire and Fr. Casey,Äôs ran out easy winners. Brendan Mullins got of goal and also added one more point while Owen Hanrahan, Mark Higgins, Jason Mullins and Padraig Reale hit over points in the second half. It's a pity that we could not repeat in reaching the final as we did last year but our young minors did put in a great performance. Pat Tobin, Robert Guerin, Brendan Mullins, Andrew Kennedy, Owen Hanrahan Mark Higgins, Michael Downey and Patrick O Shea all tried their best. We line out as follows Gary Griffin, Brien O Neill, Michael Kelleher, Desmond Mc Daid, Andrew Kennedy, Pat Tobin, Robert Guerin, Owen Hanrahan, Patrick O Shea, Mark Higgins, Padraig Reale, Michael Downey, Jason Mullins, Brendan Mullins and Jamie Cross.
