O hAilpin says Galway should move east
September 28, 2008
Cork star Sean Og O hAilpin believes politics must be behind the split in Galway hurling administration circles over the proposal to admit the Tribesmen into the Leinster championship.
O hAilpin says he hopes the westerners go into the Leinster championship and believes it would be a win, win result.
"If I was a Galway hurler I'd be crying out to get involved," said O hAilpin. "There must be political reasons (against the proposal) that I can't see as a player.
"From a player's perspective and knowing some of the Galway fellas they actually went in against us cold. I think it would be good for them, good for Kilkenny and good for hurling and I don't think Kilkenny would argue with that either.
"You don't want a situation where they are just walking into the semi-finals. I know it means travelling to Leinster to play but it has to be good.
"Funny enough, out of all the teams out there Galway are the one team that don't fear Kilkenny like other traditional teams such as Cork and Tipp would."
