O'Donovan Rossa GAA Notes
September 22, 2008
The O'Donovan Rossa minor footballers recorded a comfortable ten
point victory over Carbery Rangers on a 2-21 to 3-8 scoreline last
Friday night in the Black Field, Union Hall to reach the semi-final
stages of the minor A football championship.
This was a sparkling team performance from a very competent and slick
Skibb outfit who now await the winners of the Clon v Newcestown clash
in the semi-final stages. Skibb dominated from the start with their
defence very commanding and assured with the tactical ploy of Paudie
Crowley man marking John OíRourke, Carbery Rangers main attacking
threat working a treat restricting the Ross attackersí influence on
the game. Ger Minihane and Shane Crowley combined well at midfield
and linked well with their forwards who carved open the Ross defence
at will.
Skibb who held a slender four point lead at the interval upped the
tempo emphatically at the start of the second half with Ger Minihane
scoring a goal within the opening minute of the half to extend the
lead to seven points. Ross fought gallanty but Skibbís movement, pace
and skill all over the pitch was a joy to watch as they mercilessly
put Ross to the sword. Thomas Hegarty added a second goal before six
consecutive points in six minutes effectively put the game beyond the
reach of Carbery Rangers who rallied with two late goals to reduce
the arrears at the final whistle to ten points.
Team: Ryan Price, Eoin OíDonovan, Richard Hodnett, Jack OíDriscoll,

in their second round championship encounter played in Clonakilty on
a 1-10 to 0-4 scoreline.
