The lure of championship hurling has proven too difficult for Anthony Daly to resist and the Clarecastle stalwart has pledged his immediate future to the Clare cause. The two times All-Ireland winning captain attended training last Saturday in a spectator capacity but will take an active part in tonight's session. "I had a chat with Brian (Lohan) and Seanie (McMahon). I am committing myself to the team. I will give it a couple of months and see what kind of shape I can get into. But I have no guarantees going back," remarked the wing-back. "I am a good bit behind the rest of the lads, even though I have a nice bit of club training done. Apart from that I have been in the gym. The way I feel about it is, I will give it a lash and see how it goes." Needless to say, manager Cyril Lyons is pleased with Daly's decision. "I'm pleased, of course I am. Anthony is a charismatic figure and a great leader. I'm delighted to have him back."
