The hurling leagues are getting interesting ...

1. Colm Callanan (Galway)

When Kilkenny went in search of a late winning goal at Pearse Stadium they could find no way past the Tribesmen's 'keeper who kept out late efforts from Kevin Kelly and Johnjo Farrell.

2. Shane O'Neill (Cork)

O'Neill and his Cork team-mates brought previously unbeaten Dublin back down to earth with an emphatic 11-point victory in Croke Park on Saturday evening.

3. Cahir Healy (Laois)

Healy really stood up and was counted for Cheddar Plunkett's charges as they gave themselves a great chance of avoiding relegation with victory over fellow strugglers Antrim.

4. Shane Fives (Waterford)

Corner-back Fives made the scoresheet as the Deise overturned a seven-point deficit against Offaly to maintain their push from promotion to the top flight.

5. Michael Breen (Tipperary)

The Premier newcomer didn't put a foot out of place in defence and ventured into enemy territory to shoot two points in Ennis.

6. Conor Ryan (Clare)

Defeat was a bitter pill to swallow for the Banner centre-back who fired over five points and tried to put his side on a forward footing at every given opportunity.

7. Lee Chin (Wexford)

Chin and his Model team-mates held the upperhand for most of the contest against Limerick but surrendered the initiative late on.

8. John Michael Nolan (Carlow)

The midfielder was very much to the fore as Carlow secured top spot in the Division 2A table courtesy of a two-point win over Derry in Celtic Park.

9. Iarla Tannian (Galway)

According to his manager Anthony Cunningham after the final whistle, the Galway midfielder 'ran himself into the ground' as they sent the Cats home empty-handed.

10. Richie Hogan (Kilkenny)

The Hurler of the Year was forced to retire with a hamstring injury in the 58th minute against Galway but, by the stage, he had 10 points on the scoreboard.

11. Pauric Mahony (Waterford)

Mahony, who finished with seven points to his name, and his Waterford team-mates displayed commendable character to see off Offaly by seven points.

12. Declan Hannon (Limerick)

The wing-forward put his shoulder to the wheel with 1-3 to help TJ Ryan's men pull off a dramatic late victory against the Model County.

13. Jason Flynn (Galway)

The return of Joe Canning grabbed the headlines but Flynn's contribution of 11 points (three from play) was central to Galway's success.

14. Luke O'Farrell (Cork)

Dublin full-back Michael Carton struggled to keep up to speed with O'Farrell's movement and conceded four points to the Rebel number 14.

15. John McGrath (Tipperary)

Eamon O'Shea will have been particularly pleased with McGrath's performance after he raised five white flags against the Banner.
