Dalo - sin bin a better option

Former Dublin and Clare manager Anthony Daly believes the Hurling 2020 Review Committee have missed an opportunity to introduce a sin bin system in hurling.

Instead, the Liam Sheedy chaired committee opted to propose that a player who receives a second yellow card can be replaced by a substitute.

That is sure to meet with a lot of resistance come decision time and, speaking to Clare FM, the two-time All-Ireland winning Banner captain said: "I was a bit surprised they didn't look at the concept of the sin bin, that you could be reduced to 14 men for maybe 10 minutes, and that you would have to cope with that.

"I don't know how you would bring it in, maybe for the second yellow, but they didn't look at that.

"If we just look across at the rugby, it does seem to hurt teams, and would give the team with the full 15 a big advantage.

"I think we need to look at the refereeing on that, and challenge the referee.

"If it's a yellow it's a yellow, but don't be just flashing yellows to say I am going to stamp my authority on this.

"That's where teams have felt a bit hard done by."
