Markham keen to make amends

October 03, 2014

Cratloe captain Liam Markham is eager to make amends for last year's disappointment in the SHC.

Failure to get out of the group left a bitter taste for Cratloe and Markham stressed to the Clare Champion that they were keen to make up for that this year.

"Last year was a disappointing one for us, as we didn't qualify from the group stage. Starting out this season, our target was to reach the knock-out stage first and then take it from there," said Markham.

He added: "Crusheen have beaten both Newmarket and Clonlara in their last two games. They are the only team to win back-to-back titles in quite a while. They have shown it can be done. They were fully deserving of their win over us in 2010 when we were defending champions. It's very hard to win back to back titles but they have done that and they deserve a lot of credit."
