What the GAA is all about…

Jimmy 'The Taoiseach' Lynch is helped on to the pitch.

There was an emotional moment in Clare at the weekend that encapsulated what the GAA is all about.

Feakle had defeated Parteen by 4-10 to 2-12 to capture the county intermediate hurling championship and it was a momentous occasion for the club and it's long-serving stalwart Jimmy 'The Taoiseach' Lynch.

After the final whistle, calls were made for Jimmy - who suffers from Parkinson's Disease and is wheelchair-bound - to present the Cup to winning captain Killian Bane.

However, a barrier between the side of the pitch and the presentation area prevented Jimmy from being able to negotiate the journey, so club manager Tommy Guilfoyle and Bane carried the club president in their arms up into the stand at Cusack Park where he was able to hand over the silverware on this historic and unforgettable occasion.

Jimmy has been President of Feakle GAA for the past 25 years and never misses a training session or match when his beloved club is involved.
