Coughlan rues missed chances

July 25, 2014
Enda Coughlan is in no doubt that the Clare footballers would have pulled off a famous victory against Kildare last Saturday if they had taken their scoring chances.

"We made a lot of mistakes, even in the first half," the experienced Kilmurry-Ibrickane forward ruefully reflected in the Clare Champion.

"We were targeting the third period and we did well in that time but, after that, they got on top. We had chances and we didn't convert them."

Despite the heart-breaking nature of the defeat, Coughlan says Clare can take many positives from the season.

"A lot of progress has been made this year and there is a lot of build on. It was a successful year but, right now, it's disappointing. We didn't want any more moral victories after the Kerry game. We came here to win, but unfortunately we didn't.

"The future is bright. There are a lot of young players coming in and this can only bring them on."
