Colm Collins is determined to keep the Clare footballers on an upward trajectory after they came within a whisker of shocking Kildare on Saturday night.

The Cratloe man was accentuating the positives after guiding the Banner to promotion from Division 4 of the Allianz League and bringing them on an extended five-match championship run in his first season at the helm.

"It's been an absolute pleasure all year long. We'll get over this defeat and drive on for next year," he vowed.

"I wouldn't hang around if things weren't right and things weren't improving. I feel there is a brilliant bunch of players there and they're a pleasure to deal with and as long as that's there and we're all going the right direction, I'll be behind it.

"The post mortem of a game is always so severe because you can blame or do a hundred things. But over the course of the game, I would be very proud of how the lads played and I wouldn't have any fault with any of them."
