NHL 2: Banner find their stride

Clare 6-23
Kerry 1-18

Clare appear to be hitting form at just the right time for their promotion bid after another emphatic victory in Division 2 on Saturday evening.

The Banner put 5-22 past Down last time out, and they improved upon that with a relentless victory over Munster rivals Kerry at Cusack Park, Ennis.

If there is one slightly disappointing aspect for 'Sparrow' O'Loughlin and his management team, it will be that they conceded 1-18 to the Kingdom, and they will know that such defensive latitude will be mercilessly punished in the anticipated Division 2 final - and, more importantly, promotion play-off - against Limerick.

Clare had 4-15 on the board at half-time following a merciless first 35 minutes, with John Conlon finding the net twice and Nicky O'Connell (pictured) and Diarmuid McMahon also on target.

The score was up to 5-18 by the 40th minute following a second McMahon goal before Clare eased off considerably in the final half hour.

Camin Morey hit a sixth goal before the finish, while Kerry freetaker Darragh O'Connell converted a series of frees to bolster his side's total.
