SFC: Relegation play-offs
September 01, 2010
St. Senan's Kilkee v Lissycasey
It is hard to believe that Kilkee and Lissycasey are contesting a relegation play-off. Kilkee, who were county finalists last year, last claimed the Jack Daly cup in 2005 with Lissycasey capturing their maiden title in 2007. Kilkee did well to defeat Liscannor in their last game and in the process lost out on qualifying for the last eight by virtue of score difference. They will call on the likes of Michael O'Shea, David Russell, Daragh Kelly and Gearoid Lynch to fire them to safety. They should account for Lissycasey who failed to pick up any points in the group stage. Lissycasey will need Colin Lynch, Alan Nagle, Joe Hayes and Sean Hill on form to avoid the relegation final, a final no one wants to be in.
Verdict: St. Senan's Kilkee
O'Curry's v Kilmihil
O'Curry's have shown in recent years that they won't go down without a battle and they will show the same grit here. They had a disappointing group campaign with no points being picked up. It was a similar story for Kilmihil who also finished bottom of the table with zero points. They go into this clash without key man Timmy Ryan who was red carded in their defeat to Wolfe Tones in round 3. In his absence the likes of Conor Crowley, Mark O'Connell, Philip Ryan and Alan Normoyle will be expected the lead the way. O'Curry's meanwhile will look to Ger and Ollie Quinlan, Sean Haugh and Damien Carmody to lead them to safety.
Verdict: Kilmihil
