August 26, 2010
Intermediate Hurling championship round 5

Sixmilebridge v Wolfe Tones

The Bridge are safely through to the last eight and will be expected to see off the challenge of a winless Wolfe Tones here. Sixmilebridge will be without their four county minors but can still call on the likes of Stiofan Fitzpatrick, Adrian Chaplin, Jonathan Downes, Cathal Walsh, Rory Liddane and Keith Walker. Wolfe Tones will look to Sean Curtin, Jamie Walker, Sean Condron, Kevin McCafferty, Joe McGauley and Ronan Hehir to spring a surprise. An interesting feature of this game will see the Walker brothers, Keith (Sixmilebridge) and Jamie (Wolfe Tones) in action on opposite sides.

Verdict: Sixmilebridge

Group 3

Clarecastle v Killanena
Both sides are safely thought to the last eight with the winner of this game going through as group winners. Clarecastle will look to the likes of Adam Healy, John Pyne, Ken Ralph, Alan Considine, Conor O'Gorman and Donagh Murphy to lead the way. Killanena will call on Mark and Ronan Flaherty, the McNamara and Noone clans to get them through as group winners. It should be a cracking game but Killanena will be fancied to shade this one.

Verdict: Killanena

Ogonnelloe v Meelick

Both sides are out of the race for the knockout stages and will see this game vital in ensuring survival. Ogonnelloe came down from senior ranks last year and although they are disappointed with their year they will be hoping to make sure they don't have to feature in a relegation play-off. The will start as favourites here and they can call on the likes of Henry Vaughan, Peter O'Brien, Ozar McMahon, John McKenna, Kieran Forde and Paul Healy. Meelick will hope the likes of James Duffy, Alan Markham, Adam Shelrock, Sean O'Connor, Andrew White and Sean Cooney are on form to retain their Intermediate status for another year.

Verdict: Ogonnelloe
