SFC: Round 2 round-up

Last weekend saw eight games take place in the senior football championship after an eight week break. Holders and favourites Kilmurry Ibrickane remain on course for their three-in-a-row bid after a 0-7 to 0-3 victory over Liscannor ensured their place in the knockout stages of the championship.
In Group 1 Cratloe saw off the challenge of Lissycasey by 2-10 to 0-6 thanks to second half goals from Cathal McInerney and Sixmilebridge hurler Robert Conlon. Also in this group Ennistymon and St. Joseph's Doora/Barefield played out a draw (0-9 to 1-6) with Cathal O'Sullivan notching the game's only goal. In Group 2 Eire Og overcame Kilmihil 3-8 to 1-7 with Sean O'Meara, Brian Frawley and the returning Stephen Hickey all rattling the back of the Kilmihil net. Alan Normoyle got the Kilmihil goal. The other game in this group saw Shannon Gaels overcome Wolfe Tones by 1-10 to 0-7 with Barry Toner getting the only goal of the game from the penalty spot. The first game in Group 3 saw Kilrush hammer O'Curry's by 3-11 to 0-7 with the full forward line of Ruairi O'Connor, Jim Young and Peader McMahon all hitting the back of the net for the Shams. A goal from Shane Killeen in the 47th minute coupled with a seven-point salvo from David Tubridy gave Doonbeg a 1-9 to 0-9 victory over Cooraclare. Group 4 saw wins for St. Joseph's Miltown Malbay and reigning county champions Kilmurry Ibrickane. St. Joseph's beat St. Senan's Kilkee 2-11 to 1-9 with Michael Barry producing a man of the match display with 2-2 for the Cusack Cup champions. The Kilkee goal came courtesy of Michael O'Shea who finished with 1-5. Kilmurry Ibrickane saw off the challenge of Liscannor by 0-7 to 0-3 with veteran Odhran O'Dwyer and his younger brother Michael contributing five of the seven Ibrickane points.
