Ladies suffer narrow Tipp defeat
February 26, 2010
Clare ladies endured a disappointing defeat to Tipperary last Sunday at Meelich, which marked their second home defeat of the National League campaign.
Only a point had separated the sides at the break after Gillian O'Brien and Patricia Hickey had kicked the points to help cancel out Niamh Keane's goal from the Banner women and send the visitors into a 0-7 to 1-3 lead at the interval.
The signs were promising for Clare early on in the restart when Eimear Considine added two early points to her team's tally and sent them into the lead, but the Premier County came back strong and points from Mairead Morrissey, who finished with 0-5, were backed up by an O'Brien goal which killed off her team's opponents.
Clare will now look to get their National League campaign back on track next Sunday week when they travel to Kildare.
