Meelick GAA Club Notes

23 November 2009

Following the Juvenile AGM on Thursday last, Club Officers and Members were adamant on fielding underage teams and promoting GAA games in the parish to the young. We have fantastic facilities in place for our youngsters and if the club is to survive at both grades in adult hurling and football we need underage coming through. We are a small club and we take pride in our underage teams competing in all grades. The success of Cratloe and Clonlara has stemmed from the youngsters coming through the ranks and developing their skills from a young age in their school. Both clubs are a leading example on how to have success both on and off the field. Following managers were elected for the coming year: Hurling Minor: Ger Daly, U16, 15: John Callinan, U 14, 13: Declan Sherlock, U 12, 11 and 10: Dara Knox, Ger Daly and Don Salmon U8, 6: Mike O Brien, Pat Brennan, Mike Sherlock Football U14: Ian Griffin. In other news, the presentation of medals to the Munster & All Ireland U21 Champions will be held in the West County Hotel on Friday 4th December. Music by Minus2 will be followed by disco. Tickets are 30euro. Any interested parties please contact Sandra Reynolds on 087-2483789 or John O Sullivan on 087-2420535.
