Junior boss accepts fate
July 03, 2009
Clare manager Joe Garry made no attempt to paper over the cracks after his side lost to Cork in the Munster junior football championship final.
The Rebels beat the Banner by 1-21 to 0-13 at Pairc Ui Chaoimh, and Garry opted to make no excuses:
"We have no complaints. They were a fine football team and a big physical team. They were far better than us.
"We needed a good start and certainly couldn't afford a bad one - and that's what we got.
"Take away nothing from Cork - they're a fine side. I'd be surprised if they don't go on and win the All-Ireland.
"I've nothing but praise for the [Clare] lads. They stuck at it.
"It would have been very easy to throw in the towel, but they pegged it back a bit in the second half with two or three unanswered points."
