Banner sweating on Cooney

Clare's Conor Cooney
Conor Cooney has emerged as a doubt for Clare's Munster SHC semi-final against Tipperary on Sunday week. The hugely promising defender damaged ankle ligaments while playing for O'Callaghan Mills in a recent club game against Tulla, and Banner County selector Alan Cunningham admitted: "It doesn't look as if Conor will be able to take any part." Cooney played just one NHL game - against Dublin - due to his Fitzgibbon Cup commitments with Waterford IT, but he was believed to be in contention for a starting place against the reigning provincial champions. There is better news concerning Clare's other injured players, Gerry O'Grady and Jonathan Clancy, who have recovered from ankle and finger injuries respectively. Cunningham added: "Gerry's taken some part in challenge matches with Liemrick and Wexford. "Jonathan's injury was not as bad as feared."
