Clare must plan without Keelan Sexton for their football championship campaign after he opted to spend the summer in the US.

In what is a major blow to the Banner County's championship hopes, the Clare Champion reports that the talented forward is heading to Boston at the end of May and won't return until August. The Kilmurry-Ibrickane youngster has been one of Clare's leading lights in recent seasons and scored the last-minute winning goal against Tipperary last month which saw preserved the Banner's Allianz League Division 2 status at the expense of Cork.

Colm Collins' charges open their Munster SFC campaign against Waterford on May 11, with the winner progressing to a semi-final against Kerry.
