Its time to forget about the gym work and the weights ect and get out and practice some constructve defending.

Yes we need a defensive coach asap.

Forwards , same old stort, wide after wide, missed peno, ballooning the ball miles wide.

No signs of improvement whatsoever against a Wexford team that only played in fits and starts.

End of the day ,cavan will be going down if val thinks he can put out defenders that can let in 3 goals in the first half ,against a team like wexford ,how would we ever cope in a higher league , if he stays like this we will be going down and next year he will be still building in a lower division ,which is a lot worse ,like wexford shouldnt be too happy either in what they conceded against a team with no stand out players , i bet anything if cavan had of done what fermanagh done and get a better man to take charge (a) there would only be about seven players of of the current panel playing and (b) johnston ,macky would be in . anyway if we stay as is its relugation for us end of .

Take Donal Keogan into the setup and let him advise/Guide/Direct Val and Terry .
We need a man like Donal who knows his Cavan football inside out

What i think is worrying is that fact that we fell apart after the sending off ... 15 against 14 men ... why didn't we get an extra man in midfield to get more possession to supply our forwards ..? instead wexford got the major share of possession and then dominated ... after the peno we should have kicked on and won ... Conceding the 4 goals was poor will never win a game after conceding so many goals

Time to do what they've done in other counties like Galway, Armagh, Kerry, etc- throw in the youngsters. We need players who have had experience of winning. Also, need to work on the defence. Obviously. Also management needs help from those who have actually been with successful teams.
Sad to think that our most talented forward is leaving us.

Agree Breffini blue .Galway had 7 of last years u21 team playing,4 STILL UNDERAGE THIS YEAR.Armagh without the cross lads had 4 of this years u 21s playing. What age were Larry or jason or Dermot mc Cabe ,Ciarian Brady when they first played for cavan. There are 3 or 4 OF THE CURRENT U21S that would be starting on any senior county team. There are too many of the current senior panel not up to the standard.Fergal flanagan,Micheal Brady,Barry reilly,Jack brady,Jason mc Loughlin.Trow them in ,see how they do,they know how to play together AS A TEAM.To many individuals in the current side.We have the players so let them at it.As regards Seanie great player, let him go ,wish the best of good luck.Papers will move on ,Cavan team wont have will he wont he hanging over them and start talking about the Cavan TEAM again.Youth the way forward.

We have been told that the lads are flying in training, that they have never worked as hards as they have in the off-season/pre-season, the manager was taking strides to create the right atmosphere in the dressing rooms by focusing on youth... we have been told to wait and see, to judge on results.
so can someone who is wiser then me please explain why we managed to lose to 14 men, why we managed to 4 goals and how we lost by 5 points.
the excuse of lack of experience cannot be wheeled out as Mulholland with Galway had 7 of his under 21's playing and they won, Mcguinness did the same last year with Donegal, using his tried and tested under 21's to win the league and get to an all-ireland semi.

Taking away the Mckenna cup, as Seanorinn told us all that it doesn't count, it means that under Val we have lost our last three competitive games by a combined total of 25 points.
not great reading...

I am here I don't be o line all day you know. if you read back posts you will see I made a post. I cannot comment as I was not at the match
your sport took up my time.
I have put my money on Cavan and conceding 4 goals has to be a worry but I am sure management will have learnt from this match and we
should handle Longford next Saturday to get our league campaign off top a winning start.
I still say we will get promoted this will not change 13 scores to 14 in favour of cavan but sadly the goals made the difference.
I bet you all the players feel down but back tomorrow night to start all over again.
Remember this I don't pick the teams that start or make changes throughout the match just remember that.
I am a loyal Cavan supporter not a consistent knocker like you and others. I see the positives too remember that.

We have the nucleus of a fairly decent team now if we can do something about the fullback line in particular. I would prefer a bit more experience in there though. Questions have to be asked of management about our failure to patch up this area of the defence and also about why we couldn't do better with a man over too. How to use the spare man and reading the game is seemingly above them!!

i am not knocking the players that are doing their best in what is going to be a very tough group.the only team i see us getting a result is against offaly.longford are flying and are always worth a few goals.the lads showed guts yesterday especially after the 3 goals went in .at half time the comeback was on but not to be.our midfield was outdone by the the wexford sidelines tactics and alot of the problem came from that.we are in transition and its going to be a uphill struggle this year.in reply to other posters who are shouting for the 4 ex players to be reccalled.i disagree.go with what we have and hope it works out.we have nothing to lose

Sean O'Rinn,
WE are all loyal Cavan supporters, don't take our comments as knocking the players or management. But even you have to admit that we are in a very WORRYING situation. I will wait till after the Longford game, which we should win at home before I say more. But every year it's the same, Everyone hoping this is going to be a good year, and yet it becomes the same old routine again. We need players who are playing at a high level for their clubs, and agree with Goldenball, it's a team we want, not 15 individuals. It is difficult for management, but are they not supposed to be the experts? Hopefully we will be seeing Val, Terry and all at league games up and down the county in the coming weeks. The panel should be a work in progress, and players should step up and earn their right to be kept. No room for complacency.

Sean o Rinn look forget about promotion because we leaking goals and it won't happen. Listen to managements post match comments on the UUJ game and the Wexford game. Both post match interviews focus on wides and leaking goals. But nothing has been done . Management are aware of the problems but seems they can't fix them. It's demoralising for young lads to have to stick to a plan that clearly hasn't been thought out properly by management. And it's clearly not working. 7 goals shipped against 2 fairly average teams. So forget about promotion. I'd rather lose games 10 points to 9 than concede 7 goals in 2 games.

I agree it is a worry about the goals conceded but remember this most the current players now playing in the back and half back line are players that many on here were shouting about so they must have time to get used to each others type of play.
I feel we need to work in this area big time for we seem to be fine from midfield forward. As I stated all ready I don't pick the team or make changes I am just a supporter like the rest of you maybe I am that bit more loyal to everyone involved.
Lets hope that we turn Longford over and build on it from there.
