League Tables

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Practically every Competition in the world is reported on by the media by publishing the League table. For example the 6 nations the World cup the premiership League 1 will, apart from match reports have the league standing published as part of the sports reporting. Why is is then that rarely if ever will you see a league table in a Cavan newspaper No senior League no Underage it's part of the joy of following a sport to look at a table and goal difference, games in hand etc. This year you will be locky to see a fully updated League table for the Senior leagues perhaps once or twice for the season you will not see one underage table. but you will see pictures of people out drinking in pubs near cavan town!

+1 it's ridiculous trying to follow any leagues in cavan if it wasn't for the league tables that are uploaded here now and then i dunno how i'd know where anyone was

if they supply me with the details I would keep the league tables around the County up to date on www.cavan.gaa.ie but sadly they don't supply this information

Sean,

No disrespect intended, but there's a lot more required than league tables to make the county website worth reading

who is they Sean?

In relation to the Papers though, surely it wouldn't be beyond their journalistic investigative skills to ask the co board who won each week and compile a league table. I don't think the two local papers send their Journalists or Photographers much further than a couple of miles beyond Cavan except on raare occasions.

sean, take a look at the arva gaa site.the refs report the results and the results go up on the site.this is something the cavan gaa site has access to but has yet to incorporate it in the site.whether thats your fault or someone else's,i dont know, but im sure you could have some say in getting it sorted out.the celt have league tables for all senior football in it every week.

sorry but i dont keep my celts.but maybe we can return to this debate when the league starts.anyway they are updated on here within a day, sometimes even the night the matches were played.you expect them to update tables when there are normally more people on the field than in the crowd, well if you dont show interest in going to the games, why would anyone think that someone would be interested in seeing league tables?

you.im saying that the celt has the tables for div 1,2 and 3 every week,or at worst every other week.any leagues other than that, tend to have more people on the pitch than people supporting.so if people arent showing interest in the games why would you feel someone would be interested in the tables?

bit of a broad ststement

So there are less than thirty people at minor league games? People who participate in Minor U14 etc should not be able to read about how they are doing in relation to their opponents?

The county board just admitted that they don't have up to date league tables so i wouldn't imagine the celt could publish with the frequency you suggest in light of that

You really don't make sense

30 players,ref,2 lines men,4 umpires, coaches and subs.yes they should be able to see that, but why would papers waste their time when it looks there is no interest.does the celt not have fixtures every week?the county website doesnt.the county website is an absolute disgrace, just because it's not up to date doesnt mean the celt cant be.

Can't understand how they can say that the county board doesn't have the weekend results when the PRO sends them to the Irish Independent on Sunday evenings. The board should take a look at the Kilkenny website, there if you click on a clubs name you get all their fixtures for the year, if you click on a venue you get all games to be played at that venue and if you click on the competition you get the appropriate league table. It's very user friendly and doesn't look that expensive.

Again Shapes you are argueing with yourself you seem to think that nobody goes to games and therore the Celt shouldn't publish league tables

perhaps the celt shouldn't publish league tables containing your team as it would appear nobody bar the players have any interest

I can't remember seeing a section in the celt where you can go to look at league tables for your team so you can judge what needs to happen to get promotion or into a semi or to avoid relegation. That's why people look at them in the national newspapers when following soccer teams for example. On poster seems to think that this coverage of the senior league is excellent (there must be a different edition in East Cavan). I'm sure there are coaches players parents and supporters who would love to see what they need to do to progress in their teams at different grades, not just senior.

what was the last club game you were at,that wasnt senior?how many supporters were there?can you point me as to where i said they shouldnt post the league tables?as ive said if i was running a newspaper i wouldnt publish something if there looked to be no interest in it,and in my experience there doesnt seem to be much interest in underage.for example,i was at the minor county game today,100 people tops.thats a county game.

I would go to 405 games a week and as you should know the senior league hasn't started yet so the last time I went to a game that wasn't a senior one was an underage challenge last sunday

you are argueing just for the sake of it

and you aren't very good at it

You havent made a point of mote of interest yet!

are you sure it was a challenge?in another thread you seem to be mistaking a tournament final for a challenge match.

no,your the one whos arguing for the sake of it,i have said that the senior league tables are in the celt every week,or close to it,and you cant seem to accept that.i have stated the reason i believe other league table arent put in it,that is my opinion, not an argument.

points mightnt be of interest to you,but you still havent addressed them yet.

You haven't made a single point other than that LTs are in the celt every week and you have made it several times.

The rest of your posts are some bizzare

I have decided NOT to engage in your silliness
