Is it the clubs themselves who send in nominations?

cant really see any point to this and feel it will loose momentum as the year goes on. I dont think club players will be too worried if they are on this or not. Anyway who decides who makes the team. Say out of 40 clubs six mid fielders have an eceptional game. Who says which two make it as they are going on the recommendation of people at the game and who's to say if one played better than another and what criteria is applied. one might score 6 points while another did trojan work in defence, another might have made countless support runs, one did fantastic fielding etc. Its all a bit hear say and gimmicky and cant see too many lads loosing sleep over it. At least at intercounty level there is video evidence of performance which can be viewed.

In all fairness, the same could apply to selecting lads to play on the county team. theres no video evidence to back up every club game performance when one player is called into the county squad over another lad either.

Its a fundraiser and there is a awards night at end of year where the winners will be picked. There will be 2 nominated from each club and they want all the clubs to take a table at it (€500)

we are in a great position in the county when a player like David Givney who this week received an award for the 3rd level team of the year and represted both county and province, cant make the Muntir Connaught all star team. Here comes sam !!!!
its back to my point on the selection criteria.
At least with picking players for the county, they are brought to training and observed over a period of time. With this its all hear say and the selector who tells the best story get their man in. Very interesting that a Muntir Connaught player made it in the first team. Do i smell bias or am i just synical? Or maybe both. Its a novel idea but do see it being a must win award.

On what criteria, based on club league performances to date in 2013, do you think David Givney merits a place on that or any team?

Sounds like very sour grapes, didnt make the team yourself did you not? Maybe they should run one for the reserve leagues to accomodate you.

Are you genuinley bemused that a player who had played not one single minute of club football this year up to the selection of that team, wasnt selected? Are you actually serious?
Fair enough your out to knock something that a club is doing, thats your own agenda, but for your own sake, if you ever expect people to take you serious on here, do you really think its that baffling? Player hasnt been seen in any games, yet you think he performed well enough to be selected?
Of the wall or what?

genuinely didnt ralised Givney hadnt played any club football this year. Our club have not come up against them yet. I'm not knocking the all star team for the sake of it, and its a novel idea from the club, but dont think lads will be too worried about whether they make it or not. I wish the club well with their venture. If all clubs pitch in its €20,000 less hosting costs which I'm sure they will get sponsorship for. If they are clever enough, by the end of the year they will have at least 1 player from each club nominated to make sure there is interest and get all clubs will pitch in the €500 each which is the alleged cost per table for the gala night !!! I wish them well. Its a novel idea and fair play to them for coming up with something new apart from car draws etc.
Who know's maybe it will catch on and become an annual event, but if it does catch on, the county board will want a slice of the cake !!!!!!

Anyone know if the April team has been named yet?

Anyone any ideas on who should be on it based on games theyve seen?
