David Givney should be thankfull that his talents had been noted and exposed on Hoganstand long before he burst on the scene.
It was well flagged by me that Givney had the ability to lead Cavan and that he done with pride yesterday.
His display wearing the Cavan jersey was nothing short of outstanding.
I feel that he stood out and that is what we want good honest to god footballers.

wise up Tom this fellows talent was well noticed in his very young day's which was not long ago and not just by you let me tell you. We have had outstanding young fellows coming through but lost because of the side of the street they came from. No matter forget the negatives young G.McKiernan was outstanding and created a lot of movement from the middle of the park

Quit trying to put big heads on young lads. We had enough of that before. The player has done nothing yet anyway. Championship football is what counts !!

Don't think you should judge too much on Sunday's performance. That Donegal team started with one regular from last year (Thompson) and I don't think half of them were even on the panel then. We'll see how he does in the league and on May 20th!

Here now, Give Val and his staff credit where Credit is due we have won a game in 2012.
I will say ( do excuse me if I appear to be blowing my own trumpet) that I did say im many posts on H/S that Givnet was my man for midfield. Himself and Cunnigham were my two men to lead Cavan out off where we are.
And Sean forget about the wrong side of the street , but who are you referring too ?.

I honestly dont know what the big hype over this kid is. We seriously need to sort out our midfield parnerships as they are not working. Any suggestions?

In defence of Givney performance on Sunday, he is a big honest footballer who give Cavan it all on Sunday.
Look at this way,,Donegal tried to stem Givney contribution by putting three different markers on him Classon, Gary Mc Fadden and Toye and he still had a stormer of a game.
I feel that he has made a great impact since I mooted him for midfield on H/S

Everyone knows Tom, the only preference position for Givney is midfield....best position for a 6ft4' lad and there arent too many of them in Cavan... David Givney's dunt grow on trees!

tomsmith taking credit for firstly discovering David Givney and then advising on his best position...

He's always had the ability and has worked hard to stay on the county panel since Tom Carr gave him his break. Only credit due is to David himself who has put in the effort and stayed committed to the cause.

I disagree. I believe his best position is wing half forward. Anytime I saw him play there, he was very exciting and very effective. Having said that, until we have a suitable replacement for him at midfield, I agree that he should stay there.

Radio Tower,

Perhaps you could revisit your records and state for certain was it Thomas Carr that give David his first Cavan County outing .
I do recall that you were a strong supporter of T C but please only credit where credit is due

Radio Tower,
Smart as you may be and adept with the cut and paste, but David's first appearence for County Cavan in an adult game was against Down in Breffni Partk in 2006 when he came on as a sub for about 20 minutes of the second half.
T C was not in charge that day.
