Its never a good idea to want to see Cavan beaten Dimitri ... never! What these players need is confidence. I watched the whole match again this evening on the RTE website and I was surprised how good it was. I was too caught up in the match in Clones on Saturday night to appreciate it. Our lads have ability and enthusiasm ... all that was lacking was a gameplan and direction from the line. For me the alarm bells started ringing when I read an interview in the paper with Tommy Carr - he said that he hadn't seen the Antrim v Donegal match live. Why? If he had he surely could have come up with a different plan to the one where little men try to run through a brick wall. I was beside Mickey Harte and his selectors on Saturday. They took copious notes throughout the match and won't make the same mistakes as Cavan BlueHeaven (Cavan) - Posts: 75 - 30/06/2009 22:56:26 328203 Link 0 |

Blueheaven. I kind of agree with you. I too watched the whole match back on the website and as you say it was a fast and furious game and Cavan did play their part. it was indeed a lack of a coherent gameplan that cost us. we had enough possesion to win that game. the mgmt should take some of the blame here. they should be working in training with the team to play more as a unit rather than as individuals. players like M Reilly really need to stop going on stupid solo runs up cul-de-sacs, he has been doing this for a few years now. very rearely a score comes off it. it also means that when he gets possesion his team mates don't bother to support as they know it's futile. it's ok soloing when there is space ahead of you but you need to know when to let the ball go s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5524 - 03/07/2009 15:22:56 331200 Link 0 |
