Castlerahan are through to U-21 championship semi-final

November 27, 2007
As expected a strong Castlerahan side advanced to the semi-final of the Cavan U-21 Football Championship (Division One) on Sunday 25th November at the Crubany venue, defeating the home side, Killygarry in what was a very competitive and interesting encounter on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-11. For long periods in this game the Killygarry side gave as good as they got, and were right in contention at the break when they trailed by two points - 2-4 to 0-8. The second-half was equally close and exciting, and it was only in the closing quarter that the visiting Castlerahan side gained some dominance to run out winners by five points. The scoreline doesn't do justice to the efforts of a gallant Killygarry side - five of their players were involved in the clubs Cavan SFL Division 2 success over Lavey at Ramor Park, Virginia the previous day. However, it must be said that the Castlerahan side finished the game stronly and this tough encounter will stand them in good stead in their quest for a final place in the coming weeks. As for Killygarry they have to be proud of their effort, and in the end strength in depth and fatigue proved their undoing, but they have the consolation of putting it up to a side who have high hopes of championship success at this grade this season. Killygarry - Darren McCahilI; Declan Gallen, Peter Fay, Charles Conaty; Matthew King, Daryl McKenna, Patrick Lynch; Brendan Murray, Martin Reilly; Fergal Clarke, Enda Gallen, Frank Crowe; Barry McHugh, Ciaran Crowe, Stephen McHugh.
