Three titles in the one week for Cavan Gaels

Cavan Gaels continued their successful run in football championship finals in Cavan when after their 'double' of minor and senior title successes over Gowna and Lurgan, they finished with a hat-trick of title on Wednesday, 10th of October when they defeated Castlerahan in the Junior 'B' decider on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-7. This final played under lights at the O'Raghallaigh Park, Kingscourt venue saw the Cavan town side start the game at a blistering pace, and in the opening minutes of the second quarter they were ahead by 1-5 to 0-1. The Castlerahan side finished the half strongly and after a series of points they trailed at the break by just one point 1-5 to 0-7 - the Cavan Gaels goal coming from the penalty spot in the 8th minute of the half. Cavan Gaels came out for the second-half in determined fashion, and went immediately on the attack. They had a second penalty four minutes into the half, but this time Martin Dune's effort went wide. This setback was soon forgotten as the Gaels now playing with real confidence continued to press and they added 1-5 to their first-half score, while keeping their opponents scoreless to end up deserving winners on the night.
