A late goal by Grainne Power secured Laragh's first Senior league win of the season on opponents Lacken at Duke park Stradone on Saturday evening last.  It was a hard fought game played with some fine displays of camogie played by both sides in some wonderful sunshine in Stradone park.  Laragh got off to a fine start from the throw in when Michelle O' Rourke placed a fine ball into Katie Smith who made no mistake in putting in the back of the net.  Laragh had two more opportunities to place scores up but both fell short and were cleared by a strong Lacken back line.  Lackens first score was a point that came from a line ball which Emer Brady received and placed not mistake by putting it over the bar.  Laragh kept pressure on the Lacken back line but some good defensive work by Sinead Brady cleared to release the pressure.  Michelle O'Rourke again placed a wonderful ball into Grainne Power who put if over the bar for Laragh's second score of the game.  Annie Lynch was fouled which resulted in Emer Brady scoring Lacken's second point of the match.  Lacken applied the pressure on the laragh defense and Annie Lynch's shot hit the post but was cleared by Roisin O'Rourke.  Lacken continued to dominate and this resulted in another fine point by Fiona Brady.  This left the half time score of Laragh 1-1 to Lacken 0.3.

Lackens dominace grew in the first quarter of the second half but Laragh's defence remained strong.  Laragh were awarded a free which goal keeper Emer brady took and found Debra Smith who was having a fine game for Laragh at centre feild to have her shot saved by Lacken's goal keeper and put out for a 45.  Katie Smith converted to place two points between the sides.  Lacken first score of second half came from a free on the 20 metre line which subsitute Maria Brady converted to leave only one point between the sides.  Shona King hit a fine shot on goal only to be saved by Emer Brady and was then cleared by Roisin Dolan.  Lacken were awarded another free which Annie Lynch sent flying into the Laragh defense which was cleared only to find Lisa McGauran and she made no mistake in placing the ball in the back of the net to put Lacken 2 points up.  Lacken's forwards applied lots of pressure but Aoisha Reilly cleared her lines.  Laragh were awarded a free which resulted in the lacken's defense putting ball out for a 45.  Katie Smith took the 45 and Lacken defense failed to clear their lines and the ball found Grainne Power who made no mistake in firing it into the Lacken goal to put Laragh one point up with very little time to play.  Lacken tried hard in the dying minutes to get another score but Laragh held on for their first win.
