This was a tight affair until the last few minutes when a UCD goal rocked the hopes of the men from the west with UCD eventually winning by a 4 point margin.

The University of Ulster (UUJ) overcame Waterford IT in their semi final by a similar margin setting up a final a mouth watering final with UCD.

UUJ were physically bigger in every position of the field but it was the skill, speed and agility of the Leinster champions that proved to be more important in an open and skillful game of football.

UUJ's had the opening chance which went wide, and it proved to be the first of only a handful of chances as the UCD back line were instrumental in breaking down their attacks and setting up counter attacks of their own.
In the end, UCD ran out easy winners on a scoreline of 1-15 to 0-7.
