Cavan U21 full back Killian Clarke says the Ulster champions didn't get the rub of the green against Dublin.

The Breffni County were edged out by the narrowest of margins in Saturday's absorbing All-Ireland semi-final in Portlaoise and Clarke and co. were left ruing their misfortune when the final whistle sounded:

"We just didn't get the rub of the green," the Shercock clubman notes in The Irish News. "We're a bit disappointed. There was a bit of commotion there when the ref made a bad decision but at the end of the day we probably shouldn't have left it as tight as we did.

"It was a drawn game and we gave away a free. I don't know if it was a free or not. The boys are obviously disappointed but, at the end of the day, it's what you make of it yourself.

"We thought we had the bottle for it. There was a bit of drive there to push on in the last five or ten minutes. We had the fitness there to drive on.

"Everyone's building the Dubs up to be these untouchable people but we didn't fear them and most people shouldn't.

"The Dubs have everything there is going and probably complacency sets in a bit. We played with a bit of hunger there and a bit of passion.

"In the first half, I thought we were a bit more passionate towards the ball and getting our hands on the ball and we were smarter when we did have it. But we didn't get the rub of the green in the end."
