Seanie Johnston is a Cavan Gaels player again, according to reports.

Kildare radio station KFM tweeted last night that the forward's request to return to his native club has been granted by St. Kevin's. The tweet read: "A St Kevin's source has confirmed that Seanie Johnston put in a transfer request this week & word from Cavan is it has been granted."

The former Cavan captain joined St. Kevin's and Kildare last year after a long-running transfer controversy. However, rumours of a possible return to Cavan had been circulating for several weeks after he failed to start any of Kildare's championship games over the past two seasons.

Cavan manager Terry Hyland said recently that he is open to the idea of including Johnston in his squad next year.
