Galway's All-Ireland U21FC winning captain Fiontan O Curraoin is one of six players in the running for the Cadbury Hero of the Future Award 2013.
O Curraoin's team-mates Ian Burke and Shane Walsh have also been shortlisted along with Cork full forward Brian Hurley, Kildare's former Aussie Rules recruit Paul Cribben and Jack Brady of Cavan.
The Cadbury Hero of the Future initiative began in 2006 to recognise and highlight the skill and commitment of U21 footballers. The winner is selected by public voting and adjudication from a panel of judges comprising Kildare senior footballer Dermot Earley, former Dublin manager Paul Caffrey and TG4 journalist Micheal Ó Domhnaill.
The Cadbury Hero of the Future award winner will receive a specially commissioned bronze award and €1,000. In addition to these the winner's club will also each receive a grant of €1,000. Further details can be found on the Cadbury GAA Football U21 All-Ireland Championship Facebook page.
