May 04, 2012
Seniors
The senior team is on a good run and having won their last 2 games in the league. On Wednesday evening of last week they hosted Maghera and ran out winners in a one sided game. Things were tougher on Sunday with an away match against Laragh United in Stradone. A strong gale blowing down the pitch made scoring difficult at both ends. Thanks to a goal from Michael Argue the Shamrocks took a 3 point lead at half time despite playing against the wind. In the second half they took advantage of the conditions and ran out winners by 2- 7 to 5 points. The second goal was scored by Damien O' Reilly who was quickest to respond when a high ball came back off the upright. The next game is at home to Kildallon on Saturday evening at 5.30.
The Reserve Division 2 team have a home game against neighbours Knockbride on Friday evening at 7.30.
Under 16s
The under 16s played O' Ragahallaigh Gaels on Tuesday of this week in a play off for a quarter final place. In a close and entertaining game they edged a victory by a single point on a score line of 1-9 to 1-8 and now await news of the draw for the quarter finals.
Under 14s
The under 14s beat Drumlane by 6-14 to 5- 12 in a very entertaining game on Thursday evening in St Anne's Park. This result means that they have qualified for the semi final of the league. They have one league fixture to fulfil at home to table toppers Laragh United.
Under 12s
The under 12 team won a very entertaining game against Knockbride in the Spring league last week. They will take part in the Under 12 blitz in Kingspan Breffni Park on Bank Holiday Monday.
