NHL 4: Monaghan breeze past neighbours
March 21, 2010
Monaghan 1-18
Cavan 0-10
Monaghan were easy winners at Kingspan Breffni Park this afternoon where they had 11 points to spare over neighbours Cavan to consolidate their position at the summit of Division Four.
The visitors demonstrated their superiority from the very start of this game after going 1-4 to 0-0 in front seven minutes in, with Sean Leonard striking the game's only goal.
Cavan's only scorer on the day was their centre-forward Bernard Gaffney, who looked to pull the Breffni men back into the game with frees, but it was Monaghan that led by 1-9 to 0-5 at the interval.
In the second-half, Frank Brady's team continued to pick off scores with Michael McHugh finishing with 0-10 to his name to nullify Gaffney's efforts and help the Farney County to their fourth straight win.
